Task Outline:
The outcome of every task that you do will be dependant on your own attributes. Your skills, knowledge and personality are very important to the result of your task or work. Not everyone is good in all aspects of their skills, knowledge and persoanal attributes that are required. It is important to know your strengths and weaknesses and how to improve your on your weaknesses. This is done by completing a Personal Development Plan and reviewing it often so that you can improve your required skills, knowlege and attributes.

Objectives:
  1. To know what a Personal Development Plan (PDP) is.
  2. To complete a PDP for yourself.
  3. To identify your strengths and weaknesses for tasks that you will need to complete.
  4. To identify your personal attributes that need improvement to help you in work related tasks.

Learning Outcomes:
  1. You will understand what a PDP is, why you need one and how it can help you.
  2. You will have considered your own attributes that relate to work related tasks and gained a greater understanding of your own strengths and weaknesses.
  3. You will be aware that there are ways in which you can turn your weaknesses into strengths by creating a personal 'roadmap' or set of goals to help you gain what you need.
  4. You will realise that it is important to regularly review your PDP.

What you need to do:
  1. Use the internet to find information and examples of Personal Development Plans (research).
  2. Use your mindmapping software to create a list of what you think should be included in a PDP. Try and put the attributes into catagories.
  3. Download and save the PDP template into your own user area. Save it with a 'sensible name' - it will not be a template any more once you start to use it!
  4. Fill-in your PDP - be honest with yourself.
  5. Once complete, discuss your PDP with a friend, see if they agree with what you think about yourself!

Resources you will need:
1. Access to the internet.
2. Mindgenius software application (mindmapping software)
3. Ideas for your PDP (word doc)
4. PDP template
