Task Outline:
Read through all the tasks in this communication that you need to complete in today’s lesson and update your PDP to take into account today’s tasks. Make sure you enter dates in your PDP as you update it.

Objectives:

1. To organise your email folders so you become organised.
2. To understand what and why employers value certain personal attributes.

Learning Outcomes:

You should be able to identify a selection of personal attributes that employers value, describe them and state why they are valued.

What you need to do:
Periods 3 & 4
1. Find out how to create folders in your outlook file structure so that you can organises yo
ur work for this unit. Once you have done this, create the folder structure.

a. BTEC ICT L3 > Unit 1 > From ID. Any tasks you receive from ID should be placed in this folder for reference.

2. Email priority – working independently.

a. Some emails need acting on straight away, others can be acted upon later. Others can be deleted. You need to prioritise what you do with emails as they arrive. Sending ‘conversation’ emails to friends when you have a tight deadline is not a good idea.

3. Universal Attributes – Working as a team

a. Using Lawson and Mindgenius software, list the universal attributes (pages 5-11) and a brief summary of what each one entails.

4. Personal Attitudes - Working as a team (Lawson pages 12-16)

a. Using Lawson and adding to your Mindgenius software, list the universal attributes (pages 5-11) and a brief summary of what each one entails.

5. Complete Activity 5 (page 12). Consider how you will go about doing the activity and how to record and save the results.

Period 5
Show your Mindgenius diagram to the rest of the class (max. 5 mins) and describe to your audience how you worked in a team to complete the task.

Resources you will need:
1. Information Technology Practitioners Book 1 - Jenny Lawson
2. Access to the internet
3 PDP template
4. Email
5. Mindgenius
6. Whiteboard / Projector

Homework:
Look in newspapers or the on the internet to find a technical type of job and a healthcare type of job. For each job, carefully describe what it is asking for (include the actual job title) and make a list of the personal and technical qualities that the employer would be looking for. Cut out or print the advert and bring it to your next lesson.
